Am I mayor yet?
We made a quick yet long-awaited tweak to our apps today. When you’re getting close to winning a Mayorship (within 10 check-ins), you’ll now see how far away you are from ousting the current Mayor. You’ll see the count in the post check-in screen when you check into a place. Take it for a test drive tonight and see if it fires up the flames of competitiveness for you!

Changes to our authentication system

So many of you have been asking how you can rock the t-shirts we wear every day here at foursquare HQ, so we made a store for you to get your own! Settings update: Name your hometown!
We rolled out a new feature that now allows you to name your hometown on your public-facing profile page, so you can show your hometown pride and help friends find you via search! This can be helpful if you have a common name (e.g. Jane Smith) and friends searching for you may find more than one result for your name.
